Role Description The Higher Education Human Resources team is seeking an engaging and proactive HR Manager-Business Partner to join its diverse team who will serve as a central HR partner for management within the Production & Digital Studio function and provide targeted & strategic support in the areas of compliance, processes, workforce planning, employee relations, and HR strategy development and implementation. This role will preferably sit on the east coast in the Boston or NJ (Hoboken) areas, but this role will also need to be flexible and manage clients & colleagues across multiple time zones. Main Accountabilities Employee Relations & Compliance Consult with staff and managers regarding employee relations issues and initiate action plans to address and resolve issues. Escalate more complex issues to VP HRBP. Advise staff and managers on matters regarding conflict resolution, relationship building, and effective communication. Coordinate with legal counsel regarding employment-related legal matters and policies. Facilitate performance assessment program including dissemination of communications, coordinating with training team on staff and manager trainings and resources, Assist with and advise managers on disciplinary action procedures, coaching, counseling, and documentation. Monitor trends in recruitment, onboarding & exits within the organization. Manage HR operational tasks and programs, working with internal partners to develop and administer HR initiatives to the client group. Ensure compliance to meet all employment regulations and laws. Leadership Coaching Play an active role in the talent review & talent development programs. Engage with leadership to understand the holistic opportunities of growth and development within the organization or business area. Use data (new hire, exit, engagement, leadership assessments) to identify key areas of development and create development plans to support leaders/leadership teams. Meet regularly with managers to provide feedback with a focus on growth and achievement of development goals. Implement succession plans and ensure key talent has a development plan to focus on growth and retention. Coach managers on management responsibilities as it relates to the people in their teams. Workforce Planning & HR Strategy Work closely with management on staffing and promotion needs during the annual compensation review and budgeting process. Support managers with the creation of job descriptions. Oversee and ensure workforce/staffing changes (including internal hires, promotions, etc.) are within the process guidelines and align to the overall workforce direction of the business unit. Understand skills and capabilities gaps for future workforce and work with management on recruitment or training & development to meet business objectives with staff/employees. Conduct interviews as requested and assist with review, evaluation and selection of hires. Support teams with creation and delivery of all HR related communications. Understand workforce metrics for the department and recommend programs that align to business strategies and people collateral. Ensure a strong DE&I agenda in collaboration with the DE&I COE and ensure the business unit has clear goals to increase diverse representation and create an inclusive culture. Operate as a change agent on culture and key people initiatives. Lead management training efforts and leadership development programs. Deliver programs developed in the HR Centers of Excellence to ensure participation in Pearson programs. Actively engage with the COE’s as they develop the tools that will be deployed across the organization. Use data to make informed decisions on trends in the organization and proactively drives initiatives that will address the needs of the people based on data collected. Has knowledge of best practices within HR and how it integrates with related areas of the business and client base. Communicates point of view in a compelling way and with expertise across a wide range of projects and internal/external clients. Negotiates internally at senior levels regarding important issues within their own area. Develops relationships with leaders across the organization. Completes tasks timely and well, demonstrates “ownership” regardless of the outcome, proactive in exploring and exploiting new opportunities. Takes personal responsibility. Works well in a matrix - Models collaboration, solves problems with peers, builds trust and support. Strong attention to detail High degree of emotional intelligence; the ability to understand, use, and manage your own emotions in positive ways to communicate effectively, empathize with others, overcome challenges and defuse conflict ability to effectively handle stressful situations. Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced company. Qualifications 7+ years as a proven and successful HR Manager/Business Partner Knowledge of both US Employment Law/HR Compliance plus experience with Global businesses. Must have partnered with leaders at multiple levels within an organization. Experience driving a people agenda aligned to business strategy. Excellent communication skills; Respecting others' points of view through engagement and interest. Using relevant knowledge and know-how to explain and clarify thoughts and ideas. Listening to others when they communicate, asking questions to better understand. Strong stakeholder management skills: maintaining good relationships with the people who have most impact on your work. Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Demonstrated ability and advanced experience with the Microsoft suite of tools including Teams, Office etc. As well as advanced experience with reporting tools, excel, database systems and HRIS systems. Change Management & Organizational Effectiveness experience. Proven experience working with Total Reward, Compensation. Experience in multiple state & country regulation and compliance laws Strong interpersonal skills including peer and leader relationship building.
